Dale Earnhardt Jr. is hoping for a good showing this weekend at Darlington. Last week at Talladega he experienced some overheating problems and couldn't charge through the field like he wanted to. Maybe this week is his week.

Dale Earnhardt's son, Dale Earnhardt Jr, almost won the day before his father's birthday this past weekend at Richmond. Jr. almost won with having no front brakes from lap 40 on. That's a very difficult feat seeing as you use a ton of brake at Richmond.
This past weekend was Dale Earnhardt's 61st birthday. If he was still around the sport of Nascar would be much different than it is today.

Dale Earnhardt is currently tied with Richard Petty for the most cup championships in the history of the sport. If he was still alive today he would still be winning races and championships on a regular basis.

In 1987 at the Winston open at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott battled for the lead about halfway through the race. This particular time Elliott got into the side of Earnhardt and turned Earnhardt sideways. Dale kept the pedal to the metal and went straight across the infield and never let off never losing any speed. He went on to win the Winston million dollar race that day. Dale Earnhardt made cars do things that they weren't capable of week in and week out.

In 2000 at the Talladega Super Speedway Dale Earnhardt was running 21st with two laps to go in the 500 mile race while attempting to win the No Bull one million dollars at the end of the race. In two laps Earnhardt charged to the front passing his son ,Dale Earnhardt Jr. with one lap to go and he went on to win the race and the one million dollars. Earnhardt proved to everyone that day that there was not anything that he couldn't do in a race car.

The signature black number three was to be feared no matter where he raced or what type of car it was. If it had four wheels and tires he could drive it to its absolute limits.

Earnhardt won seven championships and numerous races in what is now the Nascar Sprint Cup Series. He was nicknamed The Intimidator because he feared no one. Dale Earnhardt drove like no other and is the greatest in all of Nascar history.

In my opinion Dale Earnhardt is the greatest driver in Nascar history.
